ABOUT
Linc Phelps was born to play music.
It's in his DNA.
Since he first picked up a guitar at the age of 10, Linc Phelps knew that music would be his life. Put simply, he was born to play music. It’s in his DNA.
Born and raised in Gympie Queensland, the home of the famous Gympie Music Muster, Linc found himself immersed in music at school however he also knew that he didn’t exactly fit into the country genre of the day.
The era was a time when roots or Americana music was gaining popularity in Australia and Linc felt more akin to that form than the version of US pop-country that dominated the airwaves of the times.
With songwriting influences such as Bruce Springsteen and John Prine, Linc was writing and performing his own brand of music. He drew further inspiration from blues and soul pioneers such as Delbert McClinton and Bonnie Raitt, along with a nod to Americana artists Jason Isbell and Amos Lee, Linc developed a truly authentic sound.
Linc’s relatability as a working-class bloke, a husband and father combined with his ability to get his honest and unapologetic message out to the world through his songs has landed him in rooms with some of the industry’s finest. He shared in the success of ‘Our Church’, cowriting the hugely popular country tune with Adam Brand and Matt Cornell to have it chart at number 1 on the Kix and iTunes Country Charts.
Linc has already amassed a legion of supporters, many of whom are his peers in the music industry including Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley who said of their friend “We’ve been fans of Linc since we met him over 5 years ago and enjoyed watching his growth in the industry. He always brings a rock star swagger to a live performance and blends musical styles effortlessly.”
Similar sentiments were shared when highly respected singer songwriter and band member, Jen Mize commented that “making music with Linc Phelps is a joyful noise. It’s like going to church for music appreciation”.
Linc’s commanding voice prevails over a solid blues feel and his words are powerful and rooted in truth. He is an artist who wears his heart on his sleeve, and this is never more evident than in the lyrics of his original music.
After signing with label, Red Rebel Music, his much-anticipated 2nd album, ‘Faith & Sweat’, was released on March 7, 2025. It is a collection of cleverly written and emotive songs, many of them composed with one of Australia’s most sought-after songwriters and producers of today, Gavin Carfoot. The album debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart just behind global superstars, The Wiggles’, ‘Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!’
Linc’s first single from the album, “Sing”, was written with Tom and Nick Wolfe of The Wolfe Brothers and is described as an anthem for the people. It was followed by the #1 hit, "Hundred Percent" and fan favourite "Workin' on Me".
The beautiful duet, "Dear Mind", with the stunningly talented and award-winning Melody Moko shines a heartfelt light on the topic of mental health. The song hit #1 across various airplay charts around Australia and was added to rotation on a number of commercial radio stations.
“Old Gympie Road” was release simultaneously with the album and quickly gathered momentum including a highly sought after high rotation addition on ABC Country.
On 1st August 2025, Linc unveiled his anticipated collaboration with Australian country music icon, Graeme Connors. The pair have reimagined Connors’ classic hit, “Prodigal Son”. While remaining true to the authenticity of the original, it ensures a modern approach and has the GC stamp of approval. “Sometimes a song finds a new life in the hands of a kindred spirit. My song, ‘Prodigal Son’, has always been a deeply personal one, so to hear someone with the extraordinary talent of Linc Phelps lend his voice to it was truly an honour”, says Connors.
“It was such a joy to be invited to be in the studio together and share this moment with him. The way he brings his own soul to the song is a testament to the kind of singer and human he is, and it makes me so proud of the talent we have in our Australian music scene. The future is bright with voices like his shaping it. I’m so grateful to him for bringing his voice to a piece of my heart.”
Graeme Connors, Brooke and Adam, Melody Moko and Jen Mize can’t be wrong when they all agreed that Linc Phelps is one of Australia’s best kept secrets. Safe to say - it looks as though that secret is now well and truly out.
